Does this mean that the ball has to be reving at the same rate of speed as the ball is traveling? Can anyone got any ideas?

Not really. It means that you shouldnt have to high revs with a low ball speed, and vice verse.

Said differently:

If your ball is always skidding past the breakpoint, your speed may be too high for your rev rate.
If your ball is always hooking early, your speed may be too slow for your rev rate.

Of course, lane conditions and ball selection come into play, but genereally speaking, that should give you an idea of the terminology.

Ok. But on some drilling instructions i've seen they have different layouts to help different rev rate players. Plus the fact if your using the Dual Angle Layout Technique (DALT) you need to figure this out before drilling the ball as if you get the angles wrong the reaction wont be right for the bowler.

Exactly.
There is alot more to drilling a ball than making 3 holes in it.

Call me stupid but i don't understand the graph shown on the link. I know that if i throw my ball at 19mph i sure don't get 450rpm on my ball. Anyone else not understand the graph. Also if you do could you explain in it to me...

The graph is plotting what would seem like a good matchup of ball speed vs. rev rate (under most normal conditions).

As ball speed is increased, you will need a higher rev rate to get the ball to hook. If you do not increase revs with ball speed, you will throw a straight ball

I just thought that when people say that they match there rev rate and speed perfectly that your ball would be reving at the same speed as the ball is going down the lane.

Rotational velocity and linear velocity don't compare that simply...

The last graph shown in that slide presentation simply gives you rough numbers where the amount of ball speed is a ideal match for rev rate.

Well i've found out how to convert rotational velocity into linear velocity so thats at least one part of the equation done. Anyone have any idea of how to complete the remainder of the equation?

There is NO correlation between how fast a bowler throws the ball and how many revs the same bowler applies to the ball.

So why do some drilling instructions give differnt layouts for bowlers that are rev dominant matched and speed dominant players?

ok fine. But there must be a way to find out if players are rev/match or speed dominant players. Thats pretty much the basis of the DALT drillings.
