asymmetrical drillings
« on: April 07, 2008, 02:06:27 AM »
Pin distances of 4 1/2" to 6 1/4" create more forward roll.  Pin distances of 3" to 3 1/2" promote more side rotation.

Pin distances of 3" to 6 1/4" from pap create the same amount of flare on asymmetrical bowling balls

How many of you guys have read the above statement?  These above statements can be found on some of the ball company's drill sheets for asymmetrical bowling balls.  These above statements are not accurate!

I wish the ball companies would print accurate info on their drill sheets with respect to asymmetrical equipment!

Pin distances closer to 3 3/8" will flare a lot more than a 5" pin to pap distance.  However that's not what's being said with respect to asymmetrical bowling balls!

Here's where you're wrong though...

You have to remember that there is another influence on an asymmetrical ball that will affect the amount of flare you see and that's the MB.

Unless you personally have two similar balls, one drilled with a pin to PAP distance of 3",  another drilled with a pin to PAP distance of 6" and can prove what you're blathering about, please stop spreading misinformation.

Do you really think Mo Pinel and others don't know what they're talking about?

In my expeience,I have found that most asymmetricals flare about the same anywhere from 3 to 6 inches. To get them to flare less, you have to go 2 1/2" or less.A good med-dry lane asymmetric layout for me is 2 1/2 x5 1/2.

3 3/8 or 5" pin to PAP on a asymmetrical ball with high RG diff should have little difference in flare potential.

And as for the first 2 statements from the manufacturer, I would like to know which manufacturer, really want to take a closer look.
