HRPS drilling
« on: November 17, 2004, 01:44:49 PM »
I just purchased a hot rod prostock.  Its the solid.

Im currently throwing a X-factor duece, and i think its a little to agressive a ball for me.  It rolls great, but i just think i need something less agressive.

So i did a little reading and thought the HRPS was a good beginer/intermediate ball. *bowling style info in the profile*

My duece is drilled, stacked i beleive, with the pin slightly above the ring finger.  With a small weight hole.

I really like this lay out, It rolls real hard. How would the HRPS react with a similar drilling, seeing as it has a somewhat different core.

What line do you play and what kind of reastion ae you looking for?  I just got the pearl drilled up with the pin above and right of the ring finger and it goes pretty long and arcs hard.  The solid may be a little eairlier and not as strong on the back.

I dont really like a sharp reaction, I love the drilling on the duece.  It rolls very hard, and makes a nice move angular move to the pocket.  When i throw it correctly, w/o any over and under reaction.

I usually stand at about or around 30 and play between 15-20.  Depending on the surface of the ball, i sometimes have to play straight up say 17 or so on the fresh leauge shot that im playing on.  But as the lanes break down my normal 15-20 shot is usually there.

I have a Hot Wire and a Deuce.  Same cover Wire has a weaker core.

I believe both balls look the same to my eye with same drilling EXCEPT in the heads the Hot Wire goes a lot straighter.

In other words I stand about 8 boards left with my Hot Wire than the Deuce and then see a very similar move!

PS pro stock solid is designed to be similar to the Hot Wire but a new slightly softer coverstock.

I recnetly got this ball drilled up, CG below ring finger, and the pin above and to the right of my ring finger.

The ball moves very stong.  Its great for playing the midlane, when there is enough hold.  If i dont send it thought enough oil, the backend reaction is to strong.

Also, it does not carry well on weak hits like my duece did, but pocket shots usually send 10 to the pit. If i send the ball out to wide, i expect single pins to be left unless i get help from a messenger.

Im happy VERY with this ball for the price.
