I gots questions for all you drillers....
« on: August 14, 2014, 12:46:50 PM »
Can a full roller be 3/4 with the help with grip changes?

Also, I don't get the coke bottle test. I had this done a few times before but I didn't have the coconuts to question the guys back then. The position of the thumb holding the coke can/bottle/wrist is to find 0 +/- lat pitches on a bowler - what I don't get is...the thumb position holding the object isn't the same when holding a ball. Or is that thumb position suppose to be kinda where the thumb is at release?

My thumb points positive when holding an object. I did at one point have my thumb go under and I couldn't get the ball out clean. It added more axis rotation, but also irritated the side of my thumb. Then the thumb went back to zero and it was ok again. Now I'm at 1/8 away which is much much better with the 8th forward that I have.....anyway, why the coke bottle test?

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

For whatever it's worth ---
I believe the coke bottle grip test is meant to show the natural relationship of the person's thumb to that of the fingers when the fingers are held flat against a round object. As someone in another thread so aptly put it, (and I agree to a large extent) this is only a starting point for the analysis of the best and most comfortable grip for that person.

This is spoken not as a driller, but as someone who has had to work for a number of years trying a number of angle and span combinations before I and my driller agreed I was where I needed (not wanted) to be.

OTs a microcosm of what the hand may do during the release only problem it's gushed in a static perfect world
