Reading a Specs Sheet
« on: July 27, 2006, 09:17:07 AM »
Does anyone know of a website that I could learn how to read a spec sheet.  I have an old one from when I was 15, and the span amazingly enough has not changed, but I'm unfamiliar with some of the numbers on it.

The finger grips say 11 and 23 which is the grip size, I know that.

To the left of the ring finger and right of the middle finger (lefty) it says 1/4 I'm assuming this would be the pitch?  then next it has the span, 4 11/16 and 4 9/16...above that it has a 0....then there's 2 markings I can not read...almost looks like a P near the 4 11/16 span, and a 0 or something to the right of the 4 9/16.  Then it has the thumb size...and to the left it says 1/8 and below the thumb it has 1/4.  I could make a scan of this if it would help.

I am just trying to figure out what all this stuff means?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

This is simple.

The 1/4 between the fingers is the distance between the 2 fingers.  In other words...1/4 inch bridge.

The 1/4 below your thumb probably means that you have 1/4 reverse pitch in the thumb.

The 1/8 beside your thumb means that you have 1/8 left pitch in the thumb hole.

Your span is obvious.

I hope this helps you out.

Look at the "Bowler's Spec Sheet" at the above site, it may help you.  The 1/4 to the side of each finger is probably the lateral finger pitch, although at 1/2 differential there's a chance of the holes coming together at the bottom.  The two markings you can't make out are probably the forward/reverse finger pitches.  At the thumb, the 1/8 is left pitch and the 1/4 is reverse pitch.  That's my best guess, a scan would certainly help.  --  JohnP
