Title: In Need Of a Spinner Layout

How should I drill a ball for someone who spins the ball?  His ball track is rather small.  I have tried to get him to keep his hand behind the ball, but I feel like I'm talking to a wall.  I want him to be happy.  Ball will be a Hammer Sharp Blade.  HELP!!
PS  Diagrams might be helpful!!, LOL
