gripping woes!!
« on: February 24, 2015, 10:31:22 PM »
Thumb issues forever. Put my thumb in the hole and try to lay my hand  on the ball and the fatty part under the inside of my thumb starts to force my thumb out. I have to lift my hand up by my pinky to keep my thumb in the ball. Any special drill to be able to get my hand down? I have 1/4 reverse in my thumb now.

I also already tuck my pinky to combat this problem but still have issues.

Tucking in the pinky will not solve your fit...go see your proshop guy to help you. If the problem continues, go find another drilleR.

Anytime you think or feel you have a grip/fit issue, check with your proshop guy just to make sure. Sometimes many of us ignore the fact that our fit Is off all because we are used to the bad fit. Or don't really care...

Im on here asking because my pro shop guy has no clue and tells me its in my head amongst others as well. I have held a high average for years but its a walled house shot. I know its not in my head. I cant relax my hand at all nor can I feel my finger tips unless I squeeze.

Have you considered a glove / wrist support? If it's "in your head" something like that may give you a mental edge to your game.

as mentioned above--find a new shop, even if you have to travel to do it.
for many years, held high averages in THS, always lofted the ball a bit. decided to try the sport game, found out how flawed my fundamentals were.
best thing, by far, that helped me was a proper fit
i hadn't ever taped a thumb-hole til 4 or 5 years ago
now, with proper tape,  i have learned to relax my grip and it has helped tremendously

your fit is everything, only a seasoned professional can help you

Your pro is right.  Its in your head.  Try putting your fingers in the ball first, then putting your thumb in the ball.  Probably will make all the difference in the world.
Sure would like to know where everybody says gets a new pro/driller.  You haven't mentioned if this is a new ball or not, a new driller or not, what you consider a high average, if the problem just started, etc, etc.  More info is needed.

If you're so gutless as to hide behind the ignore button while taking shots at people....why are you even here?
