heavy oil drill
« on: April 08, 2013, 07:54:01 AM »
I am going to be drilling a brunswick Maxxed-Out and was thinking of putting a 3 3/8 drill on it. The house I bowl in does not have a lot of backends and also has carrydown. My ball speed is around 17mph,not a lot of hand some loft so my biggest problem is on a slick condition getting a ball to recover..any suggestions???

Since you have a higher ball speed, the 3 3/8" pin to pap will give you the strongest core position with the symmetric core. If you use the dual angle method, I might suggest a 60 x 3 3/8" x 40. If you want it a little stronger, then maybe go with 50 x 3 3/8" x 30. I would keep the surface at 2000 or 3000 to help cut through the carry down.

Double thumb layout and make the hole as big as allowable. 3 3/8 is wonderful. But with a lack of revs I think the DT will get a bit more backend.

If you have a lack a revs and strong ball speed, a short pin, like 3" - 3.5" should help, but the VAL angle of the Double Angle theory is almost as important, if you're having the troubles you say you are. If you don't know what that means, your driller should plus you may want to read up on it as pin-PAP distance is only part of an important equation.

It's kind of like saying we need air and food and an even temperature/humidity range to live. If you leave out one of those, you're dead ;)
