Intense Inferno
« on: August 15, 2004, 09:24:10 AM »
I have been a die hard Track/Columbia guy for quite a while now, but after watching bowler after bowler score with the Inferno line I broke down and ordered the intense inferno.  The condition I have the biggest problem with at the home house is dry heads and lots and lots of carry down.  Most equipment either hooks up early and hits dead or goes long and rolls out.

The best ball I have used on this shot believe it or not is and old Track Silencer that gets through the heads great and recovers wonderfully.  Anyway, looking for suggestions and I definitely plan on polishing this ball as any duller finish ball at my house does not work on the dry heads.

I throw about 17-18 MPH with above average rev rate, but not a cranker by any means.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Boy, I'm not sure if this is the ball for the condition. The II is a big hooking ball that could go crazy on that condition unless you drill it really weak.

The intense for me is not a strong ball my any means, it's in my medium/light spot right now. The Intense will beable to handle the dry heads good, but I don't think it will beable to handle that much carrydown, it can handle some but not a whole bunch.

Really? Sounds interesting... how do you have it drilled for med/light?  DO you think that layout will work for tankantc on dry heads?

The Intense is weaker? I thought it was supposed to be stronger... hmmm, the Activator Plus coverstock may be a different animal.

I thought the core (higher Rg than the original and lower RG differential) was supposed to allow the ball to be cleaner thru the heads than the original, with the coverstock handling carrydown better???

Mine drilled label (4.25" x 4.75", pin next to ring finger) flipped VERY hard on the medium condition I tried it on. Have to throw a lot more games to post anything more definitive. But if it turns out to be a lot weaker than the original Inferno, I'm sure glad I never tried one. My driller has been nagging me to get an Inferno and I finally broke down and got an Intense.

BL,

I hear what you're saying.

Pins over the bridge area will weaken many balls. I worry about doing that to an Intense since the darn RG is so high to begin with.

Again, an original Inferno might spook me ...

There's a couple of places not too far away with medium-heavy oil; will post more after I throw my II on a few more conditions. I'm almost sorry I've said this much; don't want to lead anyone astray with premature opinions.
