Another Dual Angle Question
« on: March 10, 2010, 04:43:39 AM »
Maybe this has been answered before, but I'm not finding anything on it..

What is the effect of having two VERY different angles and also the inverse?  For example, I laid out a 505A with 60°x4x60° and it works decently for me.  However, it slides a little too long in oil for my liking, so I was going to drill my other one with a smaller angle sum.  I laid it out to be 70°x4.5x20° and it sparked my curiousity...

1. What difference will it make having such small angle to the VAL?

2. What difference in reaction would it be if I were to have laid it out inversely? e.g. 20°x4.5x70°

For drilling angle...

"A 10° drilling technique will roll the soonest of all the effective drilling angles.
A 90° drilling technique will roll the latest of all the effective drilling angles"

And for Val angle...

"Using the  minimum 20° angle will result in the drilled ball revving up the quickest and transitioning the fastest at the breakpoint.
Using the  maximum 70° angle will result in the drilled ball revving up the slowest and transitioning the slowest at the breakpoint."

That should explain what your asking.
