A month ago, I drilled up a Roto Loco Pearl. It's a nice second ball when league shot dries up. I drilled it with the pin next to ring finger and CG in palm area. My intention was to throw without a hole, then decide if one is needed.
What I am seeing in league is (on fresh) a low volume shot. I generally start with a Chemical X at 4k and UFO extender polish. As the shot dries out, I move in until I start to lose carry (usually during frames 3-5 of game 2). At this point, I switch to the Loco Pearl. This ball is much more angular than the Chemical X. At this point, I am usually playing between 3rd and 4th arrows and sending out to 7 or 8 at the breakpoint. Rarely do I ever get deeper than 4th arrow (a combination of volume in the middle and no one else playing there).
My issue is that if I miss a little wide (not by an arrow, but a few boards), the Loco Pearl pushes a touch too far down the lane and doesn't recover in time. When this happens, it's an almost guaranteed 10 pin.
I would like to get a little stronger change of direction and a little more continuation through the pins. I'm really close here, just looking for that last little bit to cover up some of my "typical league hack" misses.
Time for a Motion hole? I had one on a Wrecker and would absolutely kill it on shots like this where I could get inside and swing the ball a bit. Since the LP is a similar type of ball (flippy cover and a simple, lower diff core), maybe this will work.
Opinions? Comments?
Thanks,
Scott
