That weighthole may not have been to tame reaction. Not sure if the tour guys are "target weighting" balls, but sometimes a hole inside the VAL will actually lower the spin time and get it to transition quicker, especially on Mo's cores. I've done it on 2 Xceptions and Mo did an X5.0 for me. All 3 had weightholes inside the VAL and the spin times on all dropped below 5 seconds. Allowed the ball to read the midlane and come off the spot harder. Worked better when the pattern was longer but you still needed some downlane reaction.
I thought his transition from the spot was still pretty strong, even with a particle pearl. It covered some boards at the break.
