Jayhawk Ball Compass and Axis Reversing Tool
« on: October 27, 2005, 02:53:19 AM »
Does anyone have any of these Jayhawk tools for laying out a ball and have you used them and how they work.  Also, how much do these cost and is there anywhere online to purchase these or does anyone have a couple they would like to sell.  Thanx.

I have the Ball Compass and it’s very easy to use and it works great! On one side you have inches and the other degrees. The middle piece has a metal pin on the bottom of the middle section and moves back and fourth. There is also an indicator on both sides of the middle section showing the 16th of an inch or degree desired.

Say you want to layout something 5x4 you simply move the middle section to 5” and place a grease pencil in the other end. The pencil arcs 5” then move the middle part to 4” from the cg. Bam, you have 5x4! Where the two lines intersect is the PAP.

It’s easy!

Jayhawk only sells them, I think they are $89 plus shipping, but its worth it!

Wow, $90 is quite a lot for that tool and you can only get them through Jayhawk huh.  Don't know if I can get that.  Was hoping there was someone online who was willing to part with one, but I guess they wouldn't if they did since its such a useful tool.  Thanx anyway.

An Armadillo is even easier to use to lay a ball out, and costs about $50.  Buddies and other on line shops carry them.  --  JohnP

I know how to use the Armadillo to determine your PAP, but how do you use it to layout a ball?  Is there a place online with instructions for that because the one I have didn't come with any instructions.   Thanx.
