KMT on porter drill press

Guys,

My advice is to just use the KMT ball jig as intended with a handheld jig and pitch plates.  Unless you can figure out a way to stop the jig from vibrating on a press, this doesn't work very well on a press.  It's the top part of the jig that isn't quite strong enough for a drill press.  It only has 2 clamps coming down on the ball where the Innovative ball jig has 4.

Now this is not to say there isn't a work around for my problem, but after a few holes drilled, it's almost impossible now to get down to the bottom of the whole due to all the vibrations.  Maybe it's because I switched to a higher speed and bent one of the legs or at least weakened it where it vibrates more when I used the faster speeds.

My press, compound table, and ball jig still should be fine for plug cutting and trimming slugs.

The nice thing is KMT sells the 0 pitch place and plug cutter.  Just remember the set the stop collar after you drill the thumb slug hole but before you actually install the thumb slug.

For right now, I'm giving up on this drill press and going to decide whether I want a second KMT jig with the pitch places or get the Innovative press.
