Lateral Finger Pitch Question
« on: March 15, 2012, 02:06:49 AM »
I have a question concerning lateral finger pitches for "RH" bowlers.

If a bowler has one ball with lateral finger pitches of 1/2 left MF and 1/4 right RF .... and a second ball with lateral finger pitches of 1/4 left MF and 1/2 right RF, what if any difference would he see in releasing the ball  as well as how the ball rolls when he releases the ball?

Brick.....Read and learn.   I've posted this before.    After you lay out your centerline and establish your cutline for fingers, reset your drill press to 0-0.  Draw a line from the center of each projected fingerhole to 1" right(RH) of the projected thumbhole center.(reverse if LH).  Line up your press on these lines as a centerline for each fingerhole drill. Adjust your ringfinger pitch to be parallel with your middle finger so holes don't intersect.   Go back to original centerline for thumb drill using your desired thumb pitches.   This will put your fingerpads on a direct line with your arm.   If you don't relate, pm  me.

Bull,

Isn't this called centerline transfer?  Ends up adding a little forward to the middle finger and a little reverse to the ring?  In relation to measuring down the standard T grip line?

LL,

The way I read redbull's instructions is that it is a bit different than the CLT. The CLT drilling has a different center line for drilling the fingers that how I read redbull's instructions.

The way I read redbull's instructions is that each finger is drilled off an individual line for each finger from center of finger hole to the point 1" right of center of thumb whereas the CLT uses the same centerline for guidance (just like T-Grip drilling) ... which is 3/4" to 1" - 1 1/4" or so from center of thumb hole for drilling the fingers.

I could draw out a picture of the 2 drillings of how I understand it and post on here, but I don't know  how to post a pictrue on here of what I mean.

Want to try something else??????     Take a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 drill bit and bevel your thumbhole to the limit of the drill's diameter.  Will help with release on three sides.  Front, outside of thumb, and the backside.  This works good with a zero intial drill pitch.   Easy to hold, easy to release.     Combine this with the finger exercise and you'll have something good.

LL and Brick,   I usually use the same measured span on both fingers on the original centerline.   May sound goofy but all I have drilled it for, love it.   have fun.   PS....the idea of different finger pitches relates to the "modern"  game.   Everyone wants to cup and tuck the hand underneath the ball.  This hurts the outside edge of the fingernails, and puts the outside edge of the thumb up against the thumbhole wall.    The ideas I have given you, relieves all that.

bullred, you haven't read the message I sent to you 2 days ago with a question regarding your original post on drilling the fingers.
