Not really a "negative" pin. I use alot of balls with the pin over the middle finger or left of it.
Depends on your PAP. When you put the pin over your middle finger, you are moving it farther from your PAP which usually gives you more length.
The difference is say... for Lucky Lefty pin over his middle finger might be 5 1/4 inches, which puts it very close to his track, lots of length and energy savings, and then BOOM, big back ends.
For me, pin over my middle finger is only about 4 3/4 inches from my PAP, because I have a low track. For me to get a 5 1/4 pin to PAP like Lucky Lefty, then the pin would have to be to the left of my middle finger. My track is not inverted, so no worries about clipping any holes.
I can get a hook and set type motion, controlled back end with the pin under/left of my middle finger, and the CG/mass bias swung hard to the right, say at 45 degrees. Big hole, shallow close to my PAP, a little below.
