Lay out help
« on: December 23, 2004, 07:57:21 AM »
I just rcd. my new X Factor Ace and I want to put the pinjust above and between the fingers with the rad in the strong position.  The ball is a 16lb 2.2 oz top weight and a 2.5 pin.  The pin and rad are stacked with the CG 1/2 inch to right of both. With using the above layout it will put the CG about1 inch above my mid line.  Can anyone let me know if a ball can be drill with the CG above the mid line as described? Also does anyone think a bbalance hole will be needed?  I have medium revs, medium axis tilt, and medium ball speed if this helps.

Thanks for the help.

Rob816 -- The ball can be laid out as you describe.  With 2.2 oz of starting top weight, it probably will be legal, but if you want to be sure have your driller punch extra deep on the finger holes.  Top and side weight should be OK, assuming that the cg is about 1/2" right of the center line, but weigh to be sure and add a balance hole if needed.  --  JohnP

Yes, that is what I know as strong position also. The Mb just right of the thumb.

I agree with JohnP. The top weight is low enough not to give you major  problems. The CG, 1/2" to the right and slightly above the dead center, should be fine. I wouldn't even be inclined to drill deep finger until after it is drilled normally and then weighed.  I also prefer to avoid weight holes unless necessary.
