Based on how the USBC uses the center of the finger holes as the grip center to be used for checking static weights for thumbless layouts, I would think that, with a thumbless layout, it would be advantageous to use pin-in balls (0-1, or 1-2) as opposed to longer pin out balls. This would place the CG more near the finger area and make it easier to comply with statics.
