layout ? dv8 drilling sheets
« on: March 07, 2012, 06:46:56 PM »
what if any changes to the drilling layouts would you make if the bowler has a high track and not a medium track. All of there(DV8) layouts assume a medium track. I have a pap of 5 3/4 by 3/4 up. I was thinking of drilling a reckless using the big cranck layout. I'm concerned about the ball flaring over the finger or thumb. in the past i tried using a rico drilled ball and it rolled over the thumb. any help would be great. not sure of my axis tilt or rotation, revs and speed match up.  ball speed low 14 mph down lane reading about 17mph at release.

another ? by placing the pin close to the track will that produce a early rolling ball.  I have other balls drilled with pin under and rt of ring finger cg at 45 degrees that work well for me.  was thinking of trying a ball laid out like there big crank layout. thanks for any help.  Brian

If you want to see what the same layouts would look closer to for someone with a high track, you can look at Brunswick's instructions.

balvon17,

I like you have a high track (5 1/2 and up 1/2). I put the Big Crank on my Hellraiser Revenge and my track is 2 inches from my thumb hole. I think it has such a strong core that it pulls the track down. I haven't ever had any luck with pin down drills but this worked just fine.

The Revenge is a complete monster. The first time I used it I had 5 BIG splits. This is the strongest ball I have ever seen. It is pretty dull and has a great midlane read and then turns on the backend like nothing I have ever encountered. You will definately need oil or you will have to take it up to 3000 or 4000. You will love this ball.

JJ, how is your tilt?  i have a high track,  5 1/4 right by 3/4 up and  low tilt. was curious about pin down layouts as well. interested in doing the big crank on a hellraiser revenge. maybe try a 60* x 4" x 70*, instead of the 5" pin suggestion. also looking at doing the big curve layout on a reckless. maybe like a 60* x 4 1/2" x 70*
