Author Topic: Layout for Crux Pearl ??? (Read 7850 times)

Currently using Octane, Vengeance and Storm Byte, I was thinking of getting the new Storm Crux Pearl but not too sure what drilling layout would fit my style of play.

Average score about 200, speed is about 18mph and above, usually will bowl in THS pattern (medium oil volume, I think). Starting at the 20th board, aiming at about 10th board on the right. (so called the outside line?)

Any suggestion from the expert here?

I have attached the layout of the above 3 balls, any kind soul would like to comment on them? Thanks.

What do you want the ball for?
If you drill it the same as the Byte, I'd assume it'd be same shape but the Crux Pearl would be slightly stronger

Just taking a stab at it, regardless of cover...the vengeance layout would have a slower yet later transition than the byte. The byte would yeild a quick change in direction ? Just comparing the two layouts generally soeaking.

Rev rate is really what matters the most here, however, it's a long and strong ball, but both the original and the pearl for some reason love to be revved up and played with a lot of angle. As long as you don't go super strong with the pin, you should be fine, super super driller friendly. For as much as this ball hooks, it still is extremely controllable.

To select a layout, more stats are necessary. We would need a Positive Axis Point, Axis Tilt, and an Axis Rotation from you. Looking at your arsenal, I cant really help you out. You have no real asymmetrical ball in your bag so the Crux Pearl, with Stronger Core and Cover will lap the rest of your arsenal.

The only thing that can be done is general talks and general talks are not what you paying your Pro shop operator to do. Ask him/her about the layout since they've more than likely seen you bowl before and can atleast put tools to your equipment to better suit your needs on the lanes

Assuming your mb would be somewhere around your thumb, that would be similar to your byte. Id say sure...you might less overlap that way between your covert and your crux.

Byte is a assym.

Psuedo asym, not enough inter diff to be called a real asym. And with a lower diff core, it does spin up fast enough to be called an asym. But technically.....
