My pap is 5 righ and 1 1/2 up. I am having trouble tracking over the thumb hole with usually my first two track rings. What are some good layout to keep my ball from tracking over the thumb. I tried a full roller layout and that was not the answer. let me know please my driller and me are researching some good layouts.

Go with a pin above fingers....even over a bit tward the ring finger.

Will drilling the middle finger a little deeper help, as i have two balls that have the pin above fingers in the middle of the fingers. If i try to drill the middle finger deeper then add a weight hole will this help me get off of tracking on the thumb.

With a track only 5 over (not 5 1/2 0r 5 3/4 over) and yet a high up number of 1 1/2 up, sounds to me like you are not getting out of the thumb quick enough. Too long span, too tight thumb, not enough reverse pitch, not enough front bevel? Maybe not ,but usually when you track so close to thumb and so far from fingers, you are in the thumb too long. Moving weight holes and pin positions will not effect first or second track rings as it just came off your hand. Just my opinion, hope this helps. Get checked by a good driller and try to get out of the thumb earlier. Al

bigfish, It is not any particular layout of the ball to get you out of the thumb properly ....it is a correct fit. Thumb angles and length of span is critical in a good release. If your ball driller does not set your span to line up at lift point of finger hole(edge of hole if fingertip no grip, or edge of lifting part of finger grip inside) to a mark halfway between first and second joint, then he has your span too long probably. If he has not checked your flexibility of thumb and done a "coke bottle"type test to verify left and right pitch, then he probably does not have your thumb angles correct. A bowler who has a track such as yours is usually due to poor fit and has nothing to do with ball layout. If once these are verified and or corrected and you then track over middle finger as ball flares then you need a pin in the flare safe zone above fingers and or a flare raising weight hole. Al

I used to track over the thumb with the 1st rotation, and it was because my thumb fit was bad. I had to squeeze the ball because it always felt like it was going to fall off my hand. A smaller thumb hole just made it feel like I was going to hang in the ball. I messed around with tape with a little success. I ended up trying a piece of Magic Carpet in the back of the thumb hole and that has made a world of difference. It really snugs up the thumb hole and gives me confidence that I'll come out of it clean. My track moved about an inch away from the thumb, not sure on the PAP measurements now, but I was at 6 right and 1 up.
