"Pin in track" layout: how does it react?
« on: January 21, 2004, 08:16:47 AM »

One of the guys on my team was throwing a dull hi load particle tonite during the third game. The ball was laid out with the pin in the track (left & above thumb), CG in the middle of the palm, and MB in the upper right quadrant. first time i've seen this drilling!

My game is much differnt than his, so I am hoping that someone can tell me how this ball is suposed to react, in comparison to, say a 2x5 (the 3E Brunswick layout) or a stacked leverage 3 3/8 x 3 3/8.  Thanks!!!

Pin in track drills for most equipment goes extremely long and has a very strong reaction in the backend.....when you can get the ball into the dry late down the lane it hook sets right at the pocket.

Thanks! Question: any idea how much length this drill provides compared to other length drills, like "pin over bridge" or other length layouts?

pjr,

Pin about bridge will roll up atleast 2-3 ft soonger. It will also handle carry down better than the pin in track. Throwing to comparible balls side by side with those drills, you will probably have to stand 3-4 boards deeper.

assuming he is right handed, it is for a full roller, check any drill sheet and it will have at least 2 layouts for a full roller.  one is strong with the pin next to the thumb, the other is "stable" with pin in track.  pin in track drillings usually have the pin next to the middle finger for a righty, or somewhere in that area, not next to the thumb.  that would also explain why he is using a heavy load dull particle ball.

just my 2 cents

Is it bad when you have to list the many bowling balls you've had on MULTIPLE sheets of paper?

Good info guys...thanks! And he could be a full roller.

I was thinking about this drill as an option for dry lanes.  For some reason, pin over bridge patterns just don't work well for me.
