Layout ideas
« on: March 19, 2012, 05:23:18 PM »
I'm an average revs, high speed lefty

What are some good layout ideas for my style? Sometimes I do have problems throwing it thru the breakpoint

We normally use 5 x 4 or 5 x 5 so I can see it on the backend. Just wanted some thoughts from the experts on here

Current arsenal - Defiant (not a big fan), Crossroad at 2000 and a Victory Road pearl (great for when they are hooking more)

Well you must be asking because your 5" stuff isnt' rolling to good?  With your speed and where you like to play on the lane I would try some 4" or 3.5" from axis stuff. Or I would take two weeks off then quit :)  Call me if you want to discuss.

Lol the 2 weeks off sounds better and better lately. Been awful lately

Just trying to learn more about drillings. I do like my pin down crossroads, it's 4 x 4.5, starts up a little sooner

The key word here is 'throw' it thru the breakpoint....flare is irrelevant if the ball does not slow donw properly or correctly...therefore you need to match the surface to your ball speed. Then worry about layouts. As far as layouts you need to match the pin to PAP distance to your rev rate...the higher the rev rate the farther you need to stay away from leverage, also taking the differential into consideration.

Surface would help. Control on ball speed would help more. If there is oil no drilling will over come too much speed.

Try some 3-4" pin to pap lay outs and surface adjustments along with matching your speed to the conditions.

Surface first, 2000 or 4000, I dont have anything shiny in bag and im pretty firm (17.3+ mph @ the pins). Then worry about layouts.

Give me a ball with "the wrong" drilling pattern but the right surface anyday.

Exactly you can even throw is hard as you want too.  If you bowling on some puddles I would look at some med type balls even a little stronger.  Just a thought of something a little different than what your use to seeing.
