Layout Ideas?? Comments?
« on: June 14, 2011, 12:08:02 PM »
Ok, well I am just curious as to what some KNOWLEDGEABLE people would think, and by knowledgeable, I mean well versed in Dual Angle Theories and such. My ball driller knows his stuff and uses dual angles for me, and we just re-measured my PAP, tilt, and rotation tonight, so I am just looking for some ideas to bounce off of him when we drill my next 2 balls. My specs are as follows, pap 3 1/4 over 1 up, rotation 45-50, tilt 23 degrees or so. Higher speed and rev rate, pretty well matched up but well above average. Right now im carrying a hyroad with a 4 inch pin under, its my 5th one, i love these things, and an anarchy, 5 inch pin over middle, dont have exact angles as we just remeasured, but the mb is probably an inch and a half right of thumb maybe less. I'm drilling a nano, and my third tropical heat hybrid, im just looking for some drilling ideas to bounce off of him if he asks. thanks.

I track lower, have a higher axis rotation and lower tilt. I tend to favor lower pin placement or pin closer to my pap! I bowl a lot of tournament and don't always bowl on ths. Do you have trouble getting the ball into a roll soon enough to carry corner pins? I can use higher drill angles if I use a pin closer to my pap anywhere from 2" to 3-1/2"! Have you tried a pin closer to your pap? Just my $.02, Bruce

I actually have a problem getting some wicked over/under lately. Part of the over/under is me working on my game and not being very consistent right now, but I am just trying to gauge a "benchmark" layout I guess you'd say, something that I can base my other layouts and equiptment off of... my driller was actually suggesting lower drill angles and sums, and in turn smaller pin buffers just by design to get the ball to transition better, keeping longer pins for asymmetrical, and utilizing shorter pins for symmetrical balls, in the 3-4" range in relation to my pap. Hopefully it will help the ball come off the breakpoint more consistent, not until lately have I been experiencing the degree of over/under I am getting, it almost seems like the ball is "mushy" downlane, like if I miss by just a little its really inconsistent. Like I said a lot of the bad reaction is me, but we just re-measured my specs, and are gonna try some different layouts going into the end of summer to set up next season.

brett.....I threw a spinner ball for many years.   Don't be afraid to move your PAP to the negative side of your grip and down.   If you can find a LH whose ball you can throw(assuming you are RH)   do it and watch your ball reaction
