regarding negative drillings (6+" pin/cg to PAP)
« on: February 21, 2005, 12:57:13 AM »
Regarding the above mentioned drillings, what would the differences be in drilling a ball with the pin negative (in my case, around 6 1/2" pin-to-PAP) as opposed to the CG negative (again, around 6 1/2" pin-to-PAP)?  I have a Ultra Sonic drilled pin above middle finger, CG in palm (roughly a 6 1/2 x 6 layout) and it just goes dead straight.  I'm going to tinker with the cover a bit, but this is not a bad reaction at all, perfect for the toast!  I understand that by putting the pin further from PAP, the more length and less overall flare, however would a similar reaction be obtained from putting the CG negative (let's say for myself and my PAP, which is 6 over and 1 up) at around 6 1/2"?  Now i'm under the impression that CG doesn't make a HUGE difference in reaction, just messes with the statics, now putting the CG negative would make negative weight and a rollier reaction, right?

-So putting the pin above middle finger and perhaps the CG under ring finger (or even further) would result in a LOT of length with some side weight left because of the CG placement.

-Putting the pin above ring finger and perhaps the CG under middle finger (or even further) would result in not as much length with a VERY even backend reaction.

In theory this seems right, right??  Thoughts?
