Layout suggestions please
« on: December 06, 2014, 09:02:39 PM »
Ball is a tropical breeze, which I believe is 1500 polished.  Bowler has speed of 11 to 13 and revs of 225-300.
Pap= 4 1/16 x 1 3/8up
Desired reaction: long and the less hook the better. Would like it to get through fronts and mids clean before making its move.

Was thinking something with a high pin but not sure with way to kick cg. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Dual angle is preferred

Thank you all for your ideas and help.

It's a Breeze. There is not much core to it, if you really want to make sure it doesn't jump go with something like 60 x 3 x 60

This is a second drill. First go round we put a 5x4x3 layout on it. It hooked quite a bit more then expected. Also hooked early and rolled out. Thus want something longer and weaker.

The ball is suppose to be extremely weak, however it was anything but that the first go round.

Its symetric the drill angle means nothing except where the cg is located. Its not likely to roll out on the previous pattern listed so its hard to suggest a drillings. A vid of the problem is much easier to work with. Did you alter the surface any prior to plugging the ball?

Once plugged you will have to spin the ball on a determinator to find the new location of the low rg axis and now likely a high rg axis.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

Yes, we did alter the surface several times with no positive results. Drilled it last night with a high pin, cg kicked out to the right (right-handed bowler). Ball rolled fantastic at OOB finish and gave the desired reaction shape. Great decision to plug & redrill. I kind of guessed at the angles when laying it out as the pro-sect at the shop didn't have any angles. I used a 5" pin-pap. Final drilling was probably close to 30*x 5"x 35*
