A bowler at my local bowling center got himself an Alter Ego a couple of weeks ago. Layout is Pin under ring and MB in the track. The ball rolls partially over the thumb hole. The pro-shop operator who drilled the ball doesn't seem to know for sure what he can do. He has advised ths bowler to alter his release somewhat. Bowler's release verges on full-roller without being a full roller. Advice, someone?

Ding Ding!  This happened to me with my old smashr........kept flaring over the thumbhole, couldn't figure out why, when I realized I was a high tracker, and the pin was below and slightly right of the ring finger..........

So yeah, that's basically what he should do.....he shouldn't alter his release, the driller should know what he's doing in the first place.

Greetings...have to disagree with you big time.....low pin..(pin under fingers) has the possibility of hitting the thumb on a high track player...

I am a high tracker and pin under is mostly likely guarentee for me to hit the thumb.........has happened numerous times and will not drill a ball pin under due to this...

Have had balls drilled by Team England Coach....and instruction by International and PBA types......so I know that my span/grip and release are not the cause....

Next time I see this bowler I will check the layouts on his other bowling balls. He told me last time that his track does have a tendency to roll near the thumb hole, but that the other pro-shop he's been using has found ways to prevent this from happening. He got the Alter Ego from a pro-shop closer to home.

This is an average bowler. He is a semi-roller with a kind of suitcase release (hand of side of ball in backsving).
