If buying a tabletop drill press, what's the minimum height?
« on: January 24, 2008, 04:30:38 AM »
I should be able to visualize this myself but I can't. What's the approximate minimum height (i.e., a 10-inch press, 12-inch press, 16-inch press) that I'll need to drill balls with standard ball-drilling bits and a x-y jig?

I was just looking into the same issue. An 18 inch clearance would be ideal, as our mill/drill with jig is about that height. Others may chime in for other heights that might work.

15" from bottem of chuck to top edge of ball cup will work fine.  Ball will clear without removing drillbit.

Yeah...I have a 15", and it works just fine for me.
