Which of the following drilling's will give the most backend?
« on: September 09, 2003, 11:02:26 AM »
Right handed on these, same ball and everything...

1.) Pin right beside (almost touching) and "slightly" under the ring... CG at dead center of grip... Mass Bias 1/2" to the left of the thumb

OR...

2.) Pin right above the ring finger... CG kicked 1" to the right of grip center... Mass Bias 1" to the right of the thumb

I'm guessing that number #1 will start up a hair earlier because of the PIN being "slightly" under the ring finger, but not sure?

Which drilling will give the most dramatic turn on the backend?

T-GOD: It's scary when we agree on anything, but I really respect your technical knowledge (you have more in depth experience here than I do), so thanks.

Steven and T-GOD,

Okay - so it seems like both of you are saying that they 1st drilling which is basically a label leverage drilling will have more backend than the #2 drilling... but is this on oil patterns with clean backends, or is this on longer patterns/carrydown?

Or both???

Which one of these drillings is an earlier hook with a strong backend???  I throw a lot of speed with med revs and throw up the 2nd arrow and in what would be the best drill.  Right now I am drilled pin above the ring finger.  I have an Onslaught, Eraser PP, V2 Pearl and v2 Sanded, Hercules.  So I have all strong balls but not getting enough backend because I am killing the shot with all my power.  What do you recommend???

Thanks
Josh

I don't know much about drillings but:

I have a X Factor Deuce drilled pattern 1 and it rolls very early with hardly any backend.  Since the MB is in the track it should promote a smooth arc down the lane.

My Crimson Executioner is drilled pin over ring finger with the MB in the strong position, which is damn near exactly the same as layout #2.  The backend on that ball is out of this world.

I'm not trying to start any arguements, but I was always told, have always read that MB in the strong position will produce the hardest, or biggest backend snap.

In the old days people used to cut wood with axes.....................now and days...............they just have Executioners do it for them!

Pin_Krusher IS a serious threat to modern day bowling wood as we know it today.
