Light Oil Ball/drilling
« on: February 14, 2006, 11:14:14 AM »
Let me start off by listing my arsenal.

Passion  3.5 inch pin stacked leverage
xxcel    3.5 inch pin stacked leverage
Doom     Layout in pic
Big Time Pearl?
Power Groove Dry/R  Bone

I layed out a Big Time pearl that will hopefully fit below my doom.  I layed it out with a 6" pin to get it way down the lane before making the turn.  I'm hoping they won't overlap.  I throw 17 mph and 300 or so revs and play many different lines.  Here is a pic of the doom and Big Time pearl layout.  Will these overlap and do you think the BTP will be a decent drier lane ball?

I also have a nib heat blast that I could drill instead.  6" pin on this would probably be the way to go on this one too....

If you really want a ball to fit under the Doom then your better off finding a weaker ball.  Layouts can only do so much.  The cover is the most important thing.  Now since you already drilled this ball to go very long and want to use it for dry I would suggest using like delayed reaction polish on it and see if it works.

Who knows it may work the way you have it.

I can use my Doom which is drilled with the pin above the bridge 5.5" from pap on med and light oil.  I just move in deep.  If the lanes are just toast then I take my hand out of the ball.  If that doesn't work then it's time to just fire the ball down there.

Do you think the Heat blast would be a better choice to drill up weak as a dry lane ball?

Well, I personally think "Dry Lane" balls SUCK so, here is what I use as my Dry lane peice. I use a Track Freak A Zoid, polished up, Pin above bridge, CG just 1/2 inch of center. I have never had a problem with this ball not retaining energy. The same treatment and the heat blast should work fine. A 6 inch pin helps also!
