I had recently experiemented with a 6x4 layout in a radar lock. I found that the pin placement created, for me, length almost 5 ft away from the pins and 4 inch CG placement made it hook through the pins, leaving a lot of 8 pins and weird splits. I was looking for a layout that would give me either good length and a rollout mentality or an early start and weak roll. The 6 in' pin was good so should I go like 0 to 2 inches with the CG (I am not looking for a weak reaction on THS, I'm talking long and nothing)? Has anyone experimented with a 1 or 2 in' pin placement?

When you use pin placements closer to the PAP. It will decrease the flare and make the ball motion much smoother and earlier. I have had success with these layouts on fresh or wet/dry patterns. Also your rev rate is going to play a big part in how well the ball works for you, these layouts seem to work better for higher rev players and higher speeds. I normally use a 2 1/2 pin placement from PAP and put the MB 2" right of the ball track.
