Normally I completely agree with Storm4ever. But there can be cases where I don't use this procedure. For example, if I have a customer that wants to experiment with various pitches with 3/8 reverse being the starting point and moving forward from there. First, I would use a 1 3/8" diameter slug. Then I would pitch the hole for the slug at 3/16 reverse. That would allow me to vary the pitches from 3/8 reverse to 0 without cutting through the side of the slug (unless he has an extremely large thumb hole). -- JohnP
