Hope I phrased that right.

There are bunches of sites/videos that show how to layout a ball and the different way's to do it. But once they get to the centerline of the grip that's it.

So I'm looking for sites with info/tips/pdf's/videos etc. on how to put the grip layout on the  ball for drilling.

I've found 1 or 2 like innovative has some videos, companies that make layout tools have some manuals showing how to do it with their tool (Like the PRECISION EDGE GAUGE)

So wondering if anyone has some sites I could check out and add to my list of bowling information sites.

you need to find your pap before trying to lay out the balls. easy way to do this is with a spyder tool from jayhawk bowling once you have located your pap then you can use any company drill sheet. or go to bowlingchat.net and get info from the wiki button is the upper right corner.

Sorry but you misunderstand.
I didn't ask about "laying out a ball" meaning where to place the pin etc.

I'm looking for sites on how to "layout the Grip"  How to mark where to drill the holes.

Example: "from the midline measure down the center line half the distance of the longest span and mark there. That's the top edge of the thumb hole."

There's only a couple of places that show even a little bit about that part of marking up and drilling a ball.

Thanks for the try. I've seen that brunsnick video before, It's a poor information video. He basically explains nothing in it and leaves out a lot of information.

I won't talk about all the stuff he left out on mapping the pin position and PAP and VAL and the reference line.

The part I'm interested in was marking the cuts for the finger holes and the thumb. Once he had the center line it was "Ok mark the cuts for the fingers" and he just does it and explains nothing about how he located those marks, marking the bridge or locating the thumb hole.

Take a look at this one from Innovative, they at least explain what they are doing.

You are close badbeard since you understand how to get to the center of grip after laying out the drilling you want.  Its pretty simple to layout you finger and thumb from there.  To start, I take one of your span measurements...like you ring finger span.  Take that number and divide it in half...like if your span was 4 1/2"..then half of that would be 2 1/4" ok?  Now use your quarter scale, lay the ruler part of it along your grip centerline with the zero point on the center of your grip mark and measure down 2 1/4" and make a mark...this is your thumb hole cut mark.  Then all you do is now move the zero point of the quarter scale to your thumb hole mark...and now mark 4 1/2" up and now you have your ring finger marked out.  Keep the zero on the thumb hole mark and measure for your middle finger and there you go..you have your grip laid out...pretty straight forward...once you've done it like 1,000 times like myself...hehe.

Yeah, I was just mentioning that using the quarter scale if he didn't have a metal span ruler...good input though Raider

I project a line perpendicular to the center line.  then I double check my measurements.  If you have a metal span ruler like Raider mentioned, you can hold the zero on the thumb hole mark and swing it out and see where the span on the metal ruler and where the perpendicular line meet, this should be your true span.  There is only the Jayhawk precision grip tool that takes the arc into account in one tool.  More over, to truely hit your span, you usually end up taking out half of the perpendicular line out with your drill bit...or if you scribe the lines..which is a finer point then you can get with a grease pencil..you can hit the span that way. 

You just need to try laying balls out and figure out what works best for you.
