I’m a first time poster and I’m looking for some good advice from all you experienced ball drillers. I’m looking to do some major grip changes.
First things first. I’m right handed. My index finger has developed a hard deposit just to the left of the first knuckle below the finger nail. It’s gotten to the point that that finger tip just won’t bend any more. The finger nail has been damaged (discolored) from hitting the back of the finger insert. The ring finger is getting to be the same way.
My thumb is getting an irritation on left side of the knuckle. It, too is becoming hard and will break open if I don’t keep the tape smooth and/or let my wrist break open at release.
Here are my most recent grip specs mostly based on IBPSIA standards:
Span: Index = 3 15/16 hole to hole; Ring = 4 1/16 hole to hole
Finger Pitches: Index = 1 ¼ reverse; Ring = 1 reverse; Size = 3/4
Finger Lateral: Index = ¾ left; Ring = ¼ right; Size = 27/32
Inserts: Vise Grips Perfect Oval
Thumb Pitch: Forward = ¼, Left = ¼, Hole size = 1 inch, Urethane #12 oval thumb sleeve.
Because of damage and age my hand isn’t very flexible. As mentioned, the fingers are very, very stiff. I’m not sure how to how to measure the thumb angle. I’m making the assumption it isn’t very flexible either. The chart only goes to 75 degrees but it may in fact be less. I tend to sweat a lot so moist would be the choice for skin condition.
Any of you guys or girls have any thoughts or input without actually seeing or measuring my hand or release?
