Finding the Grip Center
« on: November 25, 2007, 12:54:53 PM »
How do you find the grip center for someone who has a shorter distance for their ring finger vs their middle finger (semi fingertip ring/sarge easter)?  And what is the correct method to find the grip center in general?

Would you take the longest distance cut to cut (middle to thumb) or would you take the shortest (assuming the ring is shorter I know some people are the same), or median of the two to find the center.  Then do you measure the distance between the two and split it to get the verticle line?  I've wondered this for a while and hoped someone would ask a similar question but noone has.

The Jayhawk site has instructions on the proper way to do this, link below.

As you can see, it's a pain.  I draw a line between the centers of the leading edge of each finger hole, then draw in the grip center line.  Find the center of the line segment between the above line and the leading edge of the thumb hole - that's what I use as the grip center.  Of course, all bevel is disregarded.  Probably not quite as accurate as the Jayhawk method, but OK for weighing a ball.  --  JohnP
