Do you care about brand at all?

Because of your rev rate I'm gonna say you're gonna need something stronger and something that starts up earlier. Not too sure what motion you're looking for whether you want a skid flip motion or smoother motion, but I say take a look at the IQ tour or any of the higher end balls like crux, sinister, or jackal, but you might need some polish on those.

Staying with the inexpensive and a lot of bang for the buck is the Columbia 300 Blur Solid.  If the bowler has liked the C300 stuff so far, this ball should be right up their alley.

Both the Cyclone and Blur are good suggestions and inexpensive.

i agree with the blue solid. i think you need more controll with the solid cover and to stay away from asymetrics at this point

Without getting technical:

- Yes, moving the MB over 1 1/2" from thumb would give an asymmetric ball a little more movement.
- Asymmetric balls are not more forgiving.  Generally speaking they will flip harder off friction and could be unpredictable to a newer bowler who does not have a good understanding of ball motion as of yet.  Maybe they are more forgiving in the sense that they can aid a person in hooking a ball more than a symmetric (other factors not considered).
- Without knowing specifics and only guessing, my bet is the World Beater is completely soaked with oil and has not been resurfaced recently and has lost performance, hence being good on worn out conditions. 

I still stand by my original suggestion.  The Blur Solid will out hook a beaten up World Beater and the Wrath and will do it cheaply compared to buying a high performance ball.  Bowling This Month gave it 50 for hook rating, which is solidly in the middle of all balls on the market.  Lots and lots of bang for the buck in this piece.  If the bowler is worried about hook potential, make sure the pro shop drilling the new ball is given advice to drill it to be strong. 

my way to explain that is that columbia as a whole is going with a more simplistic approach with all of their marketing and image so thats why theyre explaining everything the same in my estimation. its up to the more technically knowledgable people who know ball technology anyway to decipher the differences.

another way to look at it is all 3 balls will have the same shape but on different lane conditions so if a bowler bowls on one condition you would buy 1 of them maybe 2 for the transition....like 1 for the fresh and a different one for the transition so they wouldnt have to adjust target lines throughout the night.

as youve said dont be afraid to change the surface if needed. i personally dont put polish on anything, especially EBI products i take the polish off before i even throw it because the polish is just too heavy and skiddish. i would take the polish off with a 2000 or 4000 pad to really give the solid a true "solid" shape and be predictable
