Low Top Weight
« on: May 07, 2006, 03:00:36 AM »
well i recently purchased a Storm Agent, it has 2-2.5inch pin and a 2.04 top weight. Now i'm not really sure much into drilling but me and my driller have decided to go with a agressive drill maybe a 4X3 but most likely something stronger. (i want the ball strong) Now with the low top weight will it cause any conflicts and an extra hole be needed because of it?

The ball could end with bottom weight, especially if there's no extra hole. This will cause the ball to have less backend, than if it ends with top weight.

You will need to place the balance hole past the equator of the ball(6 3/4" from the center of your grip) to increase top weight, giving the ball a stronger backend reaction. Drilling an angled hole may be preferred, in order to miss the track from flaring over the extra hole. =:^D

Understand what he is saying...by placing the hole past 6 3/4 from your grip center you will be adding top weight back to the ball(which fingerholes will mostly take out).

Most balls with bottom weight...(if you do nothing) have a very smooth not very dynamic reaction.

PS his other recommendation...putting hole on equater of ball(6 3/4 from grip) is angle hole away from grip center which will put ball down into the southern half of the ball(also raising top weight and giving you restored reaction).

Agreed with the above stated comments...but also drill the Thumb hole deeper to remove the thumb weight, which will result in a higher finger weight, which will get the ball down the lane and give a stronger backend move.
