fingers with no grips
« on: July 22, 2005, 08:32:54 PM »
Hi, i've been wondering what difference it makes when you drill your ball with no finger grips.  I heard that it helps you get your fingers out smoother and quicker. Can someone help me?

I have had both, inserts and no inserts and I will admit that my fingers would come out a bit easier without them. I stuck with inserts because my fingers will swell , from game to game. I will increase at least one size, sometimes two, so inserts , for me, is the only way to go.

If I didn't have the swelling, I would probably not use them, to me, it's a personal preference thing, which ever you feel better with and which ever helps your game. JMO

There are an extreme few people out there that switched from grips to no grips that regreted it. It was the best decision I've made. It felt weird at first, but I learned it freed me from grabbing the fingers and keeping relaxed. If your thing is to grip and rip then finger inserts are good but if your trying to relax your hand you'll see consistancy from shot to shot. Plus every ball will feel the same and no extra costs of grips and replacing them. And the last thing is no chance of ball cracking around the finger tips due to grips. To be honest, I don't know why anyone would want to use grips unless your a ripper grabber like Ryan Shaffer or Chris Barnes. They are some of the only few that use grips on tour.

Not that I am a big fan of C.B. but what have you been smoking, he has one of the smoothest and most relaxed releases/grips on the planet and is by NO means a "ripper/grabber" as you put it.
