3 3/8" X 5"??? help
« on: March 01, 2005, 02:31:40 PM »
I recently got a track xception and when i measured it up, it's drilled pin 3 3/8" from axis, cg 5" from axis, mb in or just below the thumb. i haven't thrown it yet but what will this ball do for me?

by the way my pap is 5" right, 3/4" up.

Hook out the building, probably will burn out though with that strong of a drilling...

I would sand to 800 and polish it up a little in small increments.

Just curious, how do you know the ball is 3 3/8, did you measure it?

ok, just making sure you didn't just take what the other owner told you was the length and said it was the length.

If you look, 3 3/8 is the most imbalance a core can achieve, and the mb placement should be close to what I like to call a "flip" position due to the severity of the backend achieved as compared to other mb positions. This is already a pretty strong ball, I would consider it a heavier mediums ball(decievingly strong, some buy it to hook less than rule and find it hooks more in backend), so that drilling will really create a big reaction.

stanski's right - this is a strong drilling, called label leverage.  Since it's already sanded, I'd throw it before changing the surface.  Unless you're on a LOT of oil or have a LOT of speed, I think it'll burn out.  You can see how far down the lane it gets before burning out and get some idea of how much to sand/polish it.  If it burns out half way down the lane, I'd sand it to 1500 grit and polish it to 2000.  --  JohnP

even though this is the correct place for the post, you'll get more response from the Track players on the 'track' forum than you will here:

Early hook w/ arc backend. Throw it on your normal shot and see what it does. Then mess with it.
