It has no affect in relation to the thumb, the more important question is where is you PAP...that will determine the motion of the ball in the midlane and backend.

Ric you're right....wasn't being very specific when I answered.  I think I more meant that relation to PAP matters more than where it is in relation to the thumb.  You're absolutely right that the thumb hole is in essence a really large weight hole, and affects core shape.

Even if the distance to your PAP is the same, if the MB is moved up, as well as the pin and CG, the ball will go longer and flip more on the backend. =:^D

Don't forget the second component to this -- the pin usually ends up high over the fingers and close to the VAL.

I have this layout on a ball and it does create a different look for me. Ball gets down the lane very well and seems to have more continuation downlane. However, I can see this being a very condition-specific drill.

If you don't mind carrying around large arsenals I'd say it's worth having something like this in your bag. But there's no way I'd make this my only ball.
