Drilling a Black Widow spare ball...
« on: December 16, 2008, 03:07:19 AM »
I picked up this ball and realized I've never drilled a spare ball before.  My old White Dot was drilled with the Columbia Logo in the grip center, but I'm not sure about where to put my grip center in the BW spare.  Should I put the pin in the grip center or is there some other marking I should be looking for.

I'm also presuming I should drill with the exact same span and pitches as I do on my other balls.  Is that typically how a spare ball is drilled?

Thanks!

Unless I'm mistaken, it's a pancake block ball so the pin should be the CG and I would place it at or around grip your grip center.

Also, there is a CG mark. It's just a little black ring.

Standard is a CG placement in the grip center (if the BW Spare has a pin [not sure about this], the CG cannot be far away from it, yes, it has a pancake block like any Maxim or T-Zone), and most players prefer the same drilling as with the normal equipment for a consistent feel between the balls.

All balls, even the light weight plastic balls do have a pin.  It's usually either close to the cg or completely on the other side of the ball.  Often they make it very close to the color of the ball and it can be hard to locate, but it's there.  --  JohnP
