middle finger pitch
« on: February 02, 2004, 11:02:36 AM »
I knew robert smith has to drill his ball with middle finger to zero side pitch,
what is the main purpose for this ? more may I know why he use so many reverse pitch to his finger ? almost 3/4 !!
if I have a span of 4 3/8, it is too much for me to put 3/16 reverse pitch , my thumb pitch is 1/16 reverse, I feel I can go to 1/16 forward as I shorten my span from 4 1/2 to 4 3/8 and I use 1/8 under palm thumb pitch too.

hope some one can help me as I feel my ball always want to get out before it go to the bottom of my swing and it let me squeece the ball often.

If you add reverse to your fingers, you need to subtract forward to your thumb

I will further move my thumb more forward as I already felt I shoud go for that.

and folks, what is the answer of my first question why rober smith move his middle finger to 0 instead of 3/8 (standard) ? it is mean for more turn? if I change the middle finger to 0, should I move my thumb slightly under plam ?

thanks for yours reply

I do not know why he has his finger at -0- lateral. I have my middle finger set up at 1/8 lateral left. I get too much rubbing resulting in pain on the side of my finger with the standard 3/8 left.

Lateral finger pitches can help to get more lift. From my understanding of a discussion with Mo Pinel the more right you can go with your fingers the more lift you will get.
