A qusetion from TAIWAN (about cranker)
« on: May 05, 2004, 03:10:37 PM »
Hello! every body, I am a taiwanese. In my contury almost all people are super spinner(UFO BALL),
only a few people go hook ball(but they are traditional player, they don't like cranker),
So, to get information about cranker is very difficult in my country, becouse
no people can talk with. but I very like the cranker style. At here every one are my teacher
I hope every teacher can teach me what is a basic drilling way for a cranker and how to check which kind of finger is mine(stiff or soft)
My thumb is very short about 2 1/8", and my span (thumb to mid finger, I think it call cut to cut)
about 4 1/16". Now I used 1/4 right and 1/8 forward pitch for my thumb, 1/4 left and 1/16 reverse for my mid finger,
5/8 right 5/8 reverse for ring finger(I have use finger inster).
But when I just hold the ball feel my fingers are strange expecially my ring finger,
and when I do the high swing still feel not good enough to hold the ball; Have any teacher now TIM MACK?
How is he drilling his ball ?What kind of pitch he used? In the end, please interduce a drilling way to me or tell me a redsonable range for
drilling that most cranker used.
                                                                   Thanks
                                                                                Dennis

I dont think a drilling will help you right now. You would probably be better off learning a late step timing technique like a lot of crankers use. Start from there and see where it leads you.

Thank you!  TECH SUPPORT
But I am not a new player, I know the late timing that cranker used, And I think, to do the late timing is natural ,when someone want to swing the ball very high then throw and push the ball very powerful and smooth like Jason Couch , his body will natural change timing to late (My think,Just for me).I used late timing for two years(learn it form Tim mack in taiwan video), I think my speed and rev is not bad for a short easten guy. but I really have some problem about drilling, becouse maybe I squeeze too much make me easy to tired, I think cranker's swing is high and fast, if the ball's hole is not easy to hole will make people want to squeeze it,SO......
I really need someone answer me my topic's questions.
Thank you again!

Well then the only other advice I or anyone else could possibly offer is a good driller that is ibpsa certified and also knows what he is doing. A proper fit is very valuable and doesnt need to be short changed. look for someone that is willing to work with you on finding that perfect strike feeling. It may take several different pitch/span adjustments to find the right one. This is pretty much all I can suggest. maybe someone else on here might have a few ideas.
