More grip discoveries
« on: June 26, 2003, 08:05:22 PM »
I've posted a lot on this topic!

Here's a little more.

I've listed the coke bottle table a few times but here it is again.

Index finger = 1/8 lateral out(left for righties)
between index and middle = 0
middle = 1/8 lateral under palm(right for righties)
between middle and ring = 1/4 lateral under palm
ring = 3/8 lateral under palm

I've tried a lot of these pitches but my test has me pointing between middle and ring 1/4 under.

Recently I had a custom oval made for me.

It fits pretty good.

What I have now noticed is that when I try 1/16 under lateral(remember I should have 1/4 under at least).  Now with the custom thumb I definitely feel a dig in the corner of my thumb nail.  With a round grip I did not feel that!

Now at 1/4 lateral under custom oval, I almost feel on the other side. This better fitting oval vs round thumb is demonstrating the principals of the coke bottle test to me!
I've also increased my reverse 1/16 but my holding power has increased!  This at the 1/4 lateral under!  If had left my reverse the same I could not get out smoothly.  This 1/4 lateral under has a very nice feel with the flat side of my thumb having a lot of contact and gripping power!

I am fine tuning this to perfection and believe I will have some sensational results soon!
