Motion Hole on Iq tour pearl would it work for me?
« on: May 10, 2013, 10:25:24 AM »
Hi, I'm getting an Iq tour pearl and a wrecker soon and I know what to do with the wrecker, control nothing fancy.
But on my iq tour pearl im thinking of going more aggresive, I was thinking of going Motion but i'm not sure if it could work for me, having that added length might help me play the inside of the lane much better.
I am a tweener, 18 -20 mph speed 370 + rev rate. axis tilt of about 3 degrees. In essence im more of a rev dominant player. My question is will the Motion hole drilling work for me? is it worth it? I'm not too proficient on drilling layouts but Motion Hole has always been something I want to try I was wondering if it would be right for me and if it was the right ball to do it with as well. This ball would be only used on medium sport shots. WTBA ATlanta, Seoul, and London and Paris transitions to play deep inside.
Thanks for you time

The tour pearl already pushes down lane. I think the simple label leverage will give you what youre looking for, or your favorite(benchmark) layout will be adequate enough. I like the one I drilled with no hole, (I have 2 of them) because it reads and has great continuation. The Wrecker and Tour Pearl are an awesome THS combination, so for real, I would lay them both out the same and make surface changes.
The Motion Hole is like nothing youve ever seen. It makes the ball really stand up off the back part of the lane and continuation is a given. I have it in a Shatter and the ball is tremendous from deeper in when the lanes dry out. I would be a little weary of your rev rate and putting it in a strong ball. The Tour Pearl is not a hugely strong ball but it does "backend" and I would be afraid of making the ball too sideways. just my opinion.

Truth be told we really never play house shot in the lanes I bowl and play league at. They mostly use WTBA or PBA patterns. And for patterns like Paris and London and even Atlanta when they dry up I was thinking Motion would help what gets me weary is the fact that I read its mostly for speed dominant. And even thio 18 to 20 isnt slow im more rev dominant than speed dominant.

I agree with JMac. Mo Pinel frequents that site so he, above all, along with Merrill and others, would be much better equipped to handle the topic.

I will say that I throw the ball 15-16 MPH and its not too much for the drier THS, so I think it would work for you. I just wouldn't do it in that ball with your rev rate. I would do it in a Disturbed or Lights Out, something a bit smoother.

Took an old Innovate and went MOtion hole on it last night. Huge difference with the angle, continuation and overall hitting power. Even my son said that it sounds different when it goes through the pins. For someone who is speed dominant like me, who know his game and who pays attention to the successful/non successful parts of the lane to play, this change might be the 5-10 pins I am looking to gain.

That being said, I agree about the stronger stuff angle. Already thinking about what stronger piece is to be tried next.

Works well with low rev and high speed players.
