Title: My experiment was a success!!
Post by: Ragnar on April 18, 2007, 01:37:08 AM
So last night I got to throw my experiment - 683.  Exact layout was 1 1/4" pin, pin on line from finger to PAP, CG stacked below pin, CG and Pin 1 1/4" from PAP.  Ball was a Mean Machine at 4000, 1 1/8" wt hole about 1/2" past PAP and 1 1/2" deep (I wanted to make sure not to drill the Pin out, just in case I ever needed to know exactly where it was), ended w/ 1/4 oz finger and 3/4 side wt. Mass Bias is about 3" below thumb and 1" to the side (PAP side). Ball rolled up heavy in mids and ignored the backends.  Made a small turn in the mids then went pretty straight to the pocket.  The hit was not remarkable, just very solid - carried everything in the hole as well as light hits.  With this ball I was able to move 5 boards right from where I am w/ my Buzzsaw Pro-Purple and play more out in the dry area of the lane (about 3 boards right of my usual PP target).  All in all I really liked the way this ball reacted.  I would think it will be very useful when the back ends start to go as well as being good right off the bat.  Definately a ball I'll carry.

Deadbait, is that what they call a barbell layout?  I've been thinking about doing one of those.  I'm the sort of guy who can read all about what joe schlobotnik did w/ a ball/layout, but I still want to drill one for me to see what I can do w/ it.
