Rico when the PIN CG MB are out of line

I have a twisted Fury Solid I just got (off of here from "pro shop guy" who is a great seller) and the cg is about 2" left of the pin and mb.

I was curious has anyone drilled any asymmetric equipment on a rico when the three didn't line up and how did it roll?

I was considering just going off the pin and cg with the weight hole in line 6 3/4" away which would put the mb about an inch or so past my pap.

My pap is 5.5" right of my center gripline, no up or down.

Actually they work very well in asymmetric cores, very early and strong rolling, I have one in the original Twisted and it works very well. I would use the MB not the cg to draw your lines. By the looks of your vid, this layout, in this ball might be a little condition specific for you. I'm assuming you want it for higher volume patterns? If that is the case this ball will work very well as long as you don't open up your angles too much. If your worried anout the statics, as far as your balance hole is concerned drill your middle finger deep (3") to give you a little more starting side weight.

Rich is correct, disregad the cg mark, draw a line from pin to MB.

If I drill it off the pin and mb it will put the cg dead center just below my thumb. The ball has about 2.5 ozs top weight. Shouldn't need a weight hole just a little extra from the thumb. I don't use finger inserts so I can keep the fingers shallow.

Sound about right?

Half of the point of the Rico is the low balance hole, at least that is my opinion.  You could always drill your middle finger deeper if a balance hole will put you over negative 1 oz sideweight.

In symmetrical core balls, the weight hole is the most important part of the layout....
In asymmetrical core balls, due to the mass bias, the weight hole is not as previlent.
If anything drill the thumb a bit deeper...to make it legal.

With the CG below the thumb, the ball will not be legal without a balance hole. There will be too much thumb weight.

You will get a better reaction using the pin and CG as reference for the rico drilling and don't worry about the mb. The mb will still be in a strong position(positive side of the ball) and the ball will roll just fine. Use a balance as usual with the rico layout. Good luck. =:^D

You may be able to get the thumb weight back to legal, but you'll have roughly 3/4 oz. thumb, zero side and most likely bottom weight. The ball will be an early rolling roll monster. You won't be able to swing it much, so when you start to leave 10 pins, you'll know it'll be time to switch balls. Good luck. =:^D
