Need question answered about switch grip outer sleeve
« on: April 18, 2010, 04:29:13 AM »
I bought a used ball on here and it had the switch grip outer sleeve installed. I was going to just get a new inner sleeve done but just noticed the span is shorter (about an 1/8th) than I like. My question is this. Can I drill out that outer sleeve with a 1 3/8 slug and drill right back into that to make the span a bit longer or am I going to have to plug the thumb and start over..

I just need to know the inside dimensions of the switch grip outer sleeve..

Thanks in advance..

The inside diameter is about 1 3/8, but you will be better off to drill out the outer sleeve and plug, then redrill.  I have tried both and the plugging method yields better results.

They are now making a 1 3/8 solid inner sleeve, which may allow you to change the span without plugging. Guess it will depend on your thumb diameter as to whether you'll get the 1/8" span change though.

what about drilling the inner back an 1/8.  it was done for a friend so he could share balls with his doubles partner at nationals.
