Intense Inferno Rico'd
« on: March 21, 2008, 11:38:36 AM »
I know it's not the strongest ball but it is a classic. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how a Rico drill would do with this ball, I have another one that is drilled strong and it's amazing. would a Rico drill be stronger or weaker, more length or less length? Any help is much appreciated.

A rico would be a weaker layout. The ball would start its roll sooner and make a smoother break at the backend.

Thanks azus that helps a lot, maybe I'll just drill my second one with a later rolling reaction.

noturcuzin,

Not sure what you regard as "Strength".
I had an Intense Inf and was one of the VERY few here on ballreviews who liked it and defended it. I recently put a Rico drill on a Zone Classic. For me, the Rico makes the ball smoother than a "standard" or a length drilling, and it not only hooks earlier, but more overall. It helps the ball handle more carrydown and more oil, in general, because of early roll and the added flare created by the drilling and the weight hole.

So, in my mind, the Intense is an an excellent ball on which to put a Rico drill.

FYI follow the rico drill instructions fairly precisely. A large deep weight hole is an essential; many people either do not do it, or don't do it right and then they do not get the expected reaction.

ALso, the Rico drilled ball is earlier than its standard drilled counterpart (the same ball); that will not make it EARLY, in an absolute sense, although it may be. It doesn't convert a pearl into a solid; it just modifies the pearl's basic reaction into a smoother one.
