Need some help on a angular one. Please
« on: February 26, 2007, 08:12:23 AM »
I am starting to think my drill drilled this bad.  It is drilled pin 3 inches fron Pap an mb 4 1/2 from PAP.  My PAP is 4 1/2 over. I just cant seen to get this ball to move for me.  My old trusty storm firepower out performs this ball its drilled pin 3in from PAP an cg 3 1/2 from PAP but also has a weight hole on a line from the pin threw my PAP the hole is 6 3/4 from the pin on that line. an i just love this ball but it need retired.  So i would love to get my ao to work right now its sanded to 1000 just to get alittle movement out of it.  Here is a photo of the layout. Any sugestions would be great. Was thinking about trying a weighthole the same place as the firepower.

A weight hole where you describe will help a little. Watch out to make sure the ball will not flare over that location. If your fire power is out hooking the angular one, I would try smoothing the surface (2000-4000 abralon), possibly even polishing and see if that helps, the coverstock on the angular one is very aggressive and may be burning up in the heads.

i tryed the original polished cover took it to 4000 no luck then to 2000 once again no luck 1000 has been the best so far but sont really want a 1000 grit ball.  just trying to maby get alittle more out of it. so you think maby a weighthole on a line from my pin threw my PAP, now should the hole be 6 3/4 from my pin or is there a better place for it,.

Like I said, that would help a little, increasing topweight and flare, but the way today's balls flare, you have to be careful in putting any holes past the VAL that you do not end up rolling over it. Roll the ball enough to see where the flares are. Some guys put a piece of white tape where they want the weight hole and see if it rolls over it. I wouldn't expect alot of difference, but it should be noticeable.
Also remember, even polished, this coverstock is aggressive. Be sure that the ball isn't grabbing too early due to dry heads.
